Invisalign

Straightening teeth with clear, comfortable and removable aligners

For any crooked, overcrowded teeth, Invisalign can straighten smiles. Through using gradual movements, the clear aligners bring your teeth into alignment, neatening teeth and filling in gaps. Invisalign is suitable for orthodontic situations with mild to moderate spacing or crowding. There are certain situations for which Invisalign would not be recommended. However, we would be glad to discuss this option with you.

We are a fully certified Invisalign Go provider.

Why have teeth straightening?

As well as improving appearance, a straighter smile is a benefit to your overall oral health. Orthodontic treatment like Invisalign moves teeth to a better bite position, easing any problems that your misaligned teeth had been causing your jaw. This also prevents any tooth wear caused by teeth that are out of position.Overlapping teeth create areas that are hard to keep clear of plaque and tartar. Straightening these teeth makes it much easier for you and your hygienist to keep your mouth protected from gum disease and dental decay.

What does invisalign treatment involve?

We first make sure your teeth and gums are perfectly healthy. Great oral health will ensure your treatment goes smoothly. We begin with taking scans of your mouth using an intra-oral camera. The hand-held device captures 3D scans of your teeth which we view at the chair-side. Using special software, we can preview how Invisalign can move your teeth into a straighter position. The 3D scans are then sent to the lab where aligners are created. Each aligner is individually manufactured for your teeth, and your teeth only. A series of aligners are made just for you which you change every two weeks for the next set of aligners.Aligners should be worn day and night, and only be removed when eating, drinking and brushing your teeth. As you replace each aligner, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position.

How long will my smile stay straight for?

After the treatment, we’ll provide you with a retainer. This will keep your teeth from moving back out of position which can happen if your teeth aren’t given time to stablise in their new place. Wearing a retainer at night will give your teeth time to rest in position. As we age, however, our teeth shift and move around. Keeping your retainer as part of your night time routine will make sure your smile stays straight for as long as you wear your retainer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will Invisalign impact my speech?

It may take a few days to adjust to the aligners, and you might notice a slight lisp initially. However, you’ll soon be speaking clearly and confidently as you get used to them.

Are Invisalign aligners comfortable?

Absolutely! Invisalign aligners are crafted for comfort, allowing you to wear them easily for up to 22 hours a day. They fit securely over your teeth without metal brackets or wires, ensuring a smooth and irritation-free experience.

How many hours a day should I wear Invisalign aligners?

For the best results, you should wear your aligners for approximately 22 hours each day. You can remove them for eating, drinking, brushing, and during contact sports.

What should I do if I lose an aligner?

If you lose an aligner, contact us immediately for guidance. While waiting, wear an aligner from your previous set to maintain alignment. Depending on your situation, we may recommend moving to your next set of aligners right away.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

The duration of Invisalign treatment varies, typically ranging from 9 to 18 months. Simpler cases may be completed more quickly, while more complex issues may require longer treatment. After your initial consultation, we can provide an estimate of your expected treatment timeline.

Will I need to wear retainers after Invisalign treatment?

Yes, retainers are essential to maintain your teeth’s new positions after Invisalign treatment. Since teeth can shift over time, you’ll need to wear retainers part-time, typically overnight, to keep them straight. Depending on your needs, you’ll receive either fixed or removable retainers.
