If you have pain that comes on very suddenly, our first priority is to determine the cause and make you feel more comfortable. In many cases, we may be able to recommend pain relief to ease swelling and help you to feel more comfortable.
Painkillers such as paracetamol can help relieve tooth pain until we are able to address the cause.
Toothache is usually caused by decay or dental infections. Although painkillers will alleviate pain, taking medication won’t tackle the root cause of the problem. If you have a cavity or an infection, we will carry out the necessary treatment to prevent further complications. Treatments may include filling the affected tooth or draining and removing an abscess.
Once you’ve had treatment, we can offer advice and organise a follow-up appointment to protect your teeth and reduce the risk of you developing any further problems.
